The South Carolina State men's and women's track team will travel to Virginia Beach, Va. to participate in the 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross-Country Championships. The championship will be held at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach this Saturday, Oct. 27.
“I am expecting both teams to be competitive in this years championship,” says first-year head coach Tyree Price. “The women's team has been consistent all year and with the championship upon them I'm expecting them to be even more competitive.” The women's team will be led by Brittany Strange, Lauren Lawson and Kristi Foster.
The men's team may not be as strong as the women's team, but Price is expecting them to finish better than last year's 10th place. “Like the women, the men's team has prepared with stiff competition throughout this cross-country season,” says Price. “The competition in the championship should be on the same level that we have seen all year.” Richard Elixu, Tyreese Clark and DeAngelo Bolton are expected to head up the cast for the men.
