Tempest Vance and Garrett Blakely have qualified for the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Eastern Regional Championships. Vance, a red-shirt sophomore from Anderson, SC, qualified for the eastern regional in the 400 meter hurdles. In the preliminary round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track Championships, Vance ran a season best 100.36 in the 400 meter hurdles. She ran a personal best 100.12 in the finals, which was good enough for a second place finish.

ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State’s Ashley Maddox finished second in the women’s college high jump at the Penn Relays Thursday. The Beaufort, SC senior had a leap of 1.72 meters (5-7 ¾) in trailing West Virginia’s Katelyn Williams who jumped 1.77 meters (5-9 ¾).
