SC State Holds Second Day Of Fall Drills

Bulldogs Conduct "Press and Picture' Day

ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State conducted its second of 29 preseason football practices Saturday as the Bulldogs prepare for their Aug. 30 showdown with non-conference foe Georgia State.The Bulldogs participated in a light workout with just helmets during the evening session.
       Earlier that day Coach Pough's team conducted its annual “Press and Picture day with a team picture at Willie Jeffries Field, Oliver C. Dawson Stadium., along with player and coaches interviews with local and statewide media.
        Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough, who is beginning his 11th season at the helm, said he, his staff and players were looking to continue a preseason camp with its second day of drills.
         “It was your typical second day with the guys practicing in helmets and showing a lot of enthusiasm,” said Pough. “Majority of our guys came into came already in shape so that always a plus for you.”
        The Bulldogs spent majority of practice working on special teams and individual type drills.
        Pough said we working out the kinks right now on special teams. When you lose a player like Blake Erickson it's hard to replace that so we just have to go about things and its business as usual.
        “We will take tomorrow off and go to church together as a team  and then come back during the evening and get some of those guys rested up before we hit the field  Monday, “ he said. “Next couple of practices we will work on team style drills in shoulder pads and helmets.
          SC State will resume practice Monday at 7 p.m.
