ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State continued spring football drills Tuesday with a lively workout in shorts and helmets at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough said the session was a good one.
“I thought we showed progress,” Pough said. “It (the session) was another eventful evening where we made some strides. The players continue to work hard and we seemed to have more energy tonight (Tuesday).
“We are giving a lot of attention to the fundamentals and techniques of our young guys and they appear to be responding. We just want to continue to improve in these areas.”
Pough noted that the Bulldogs also worked on a couple of phases of their special teams. He said that SC State's two young kickers – Will Roper and Nick Belcher – were in a tight battle for the placekicking duties.
Pough's team will conduct its second scrimmage on Thursday, beginning at 8 p.m. The workout will be in full pads.
