NORMAL, AL -- Funeral arrangements for former SC State football assistant Ben Blacknall have been set, according to the Huntsville (Ala.) Times.
Blacknall, who died on Wednesday (Apr. 25), will be funeralized on Thursday, May 3, at 11 a.m. CDT at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Winchester Road in Huntsville, with Pastor O. Wendell Davis presiding. A public viewing is set for 10 a.m. at the church.
Nelms Memorial Funeral Home, 2501 Carmichael Avenue, Huntsville, is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of condolences can be sent to the funeral home at (256) 539-8189.
Blacknall, the defensive line coach at Alabama A&M the past six seasons, served two stints as an assistant at SC State (1977-78 and 1989-98), mostly under Bulldog head football coach emeritus Willie Jeffries. He also was an assistant under Jeffries at Wichita State (1979-83) and Howard (1984-88).
The Louisburg, NC native spent four seasons (2000-2003) as head coach at Delaware State and was an assistant at Morehouse (1999) under Anthony Jones, the current head coach at Alabama A&M.
