SC State Holds Light Saturday Practice

**Spring Football Flash**
ORANGEBURG, SC— South Carolina State completed the seventh of 15 scheduled spring football workouts Saturday morning. A portion of the session was used to work on individual drills and special teams, after conducted its first spring scrimmage Thursday night at O.C. Dawson Stadium.
The Bulldogs dressed in helmets and shells, conducted a two and half hour practice consisting of 60 snaps team style offense.
“We got a lot of work in today of team style techniques, so that we can bring them together more as a team,” said SC State head coach Pough. “It's important that we develop some of these young guys and get them ready to help us out when needed.”
“I thought and evaluating Thursday night's scrimmage, if we had scrimmaged today the defense would have a better understanding on how to stop some of those things they struggled with in the game,” he continued. “We showed more intensity on defense, but that's what you get when one side get the best of the other during these practices.”
Pough noted that a few players are banged up like Jalen “Scoot” Simmons (knee), Julius Pendergrass (toe), Sam Hammond (ankle) just to name a few but nothing serious. As we approach the midway point with our eighth workout, tomorrows practice will be a long session as we work more with of the young guys.
The Bulldogs return to the practice field in full pads on Sunday, April 1, at 3:30 p.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium. SC State will culminate spring drills Apr. 14 with its annual Garnet and Blue game, which has a 1 p.m. kickoff.
