Bulldogs Battle Eagles In Pivotal MEAC Showdown

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (2-3 overall, 1-1 MEAC) and the North Carolina Central Eagles (2-2 overall, 1-0 MEAC) are set to meet in the 29^th Annual Circle City Classic this Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

SETTING THE STAGE:
This will be the 20th meeting when the two schools meet on Saturday at the Circle City Classic at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Bulldogs seemed to have gotten things back on track after posting a huge, 14-0 shutout to Norfolk State on last Saturday. Meanwhile, the Eagles of NC Central had a bye week and will look to remain unbeaten in the conference with a win over South Carolina State this weekend. NC Central (2-2 overall, 1-0 MEAC) won big over Savannah State 45-33 in Savannah, GA in their last outing on Sept. 22.

SETTING THE SCENE:
The two teams are meeting for the 20^th time in school history, dating back to 1926. NC Central is in its second season being a part of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference after joining back in 2010. In their last meeting it was a shootout between the Eagles and Bulldogs with over 87 points being scored between the two. SC State managed to hold on to defeat NC Central 49-38(Oct. 8, 2011) in Orangeburg, SC. Coach Plough is 1-0 vs. NCCU, while Coach Henry Frazier III holds a 0-1 record vs. SC State.

THE COACHES: SC STATE'S BUDDY POUGH (SC STATE '75) is in his 11th season as head coach at his alma mater and owns and 84-36 overall record and a 65-17 MEAC.

NC CENTRAL HENRY FRAZIER III (BOWIE STATE'93) is in his second season as Eagle head coach and 14th career season. He holds a 4-11 record at NCCU, while recording a 73-72 over his career.
