2011 MEAC Champion SC State Tennis Team’s Saluted

Men and Women to Face Florida Once Again In First-Round Of NCAA Championships

Tennis Teams and Supporters Celebrate During Wednesday Salute

ORANGEBURG,SC--The South Carolina State men's and women's tennis teams have combined for 14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships the last eight seasons. Two of the feats occurred this year, sending both teams once again to the prestigious NCAA Championship that gets underway next Friday, May 13-15 at sites around the country.

          The SC State women (16-2) will meet top-ranked Florida Lady Gators (25-1) Saturday at noon in Gainesville, while the men (13-4) take on the seventh-seeded Florida Gators (18-8) Friday at 2 p.m. in the first-round of the NCAA Tennis Championships.

         On Wednesday, both team's, head coach Hardeep Judge and assistant coach Suzanna Mansour, were honored with a rousing salute and celebration at the President's State Room on the campus of SC State  An overflow crowd was on hand for the event with standing room only, including  supporters from campus, alums, the community and elected officials to show their support for the SC State Tennis Teams. 

        Orangeburg Mayor Paul Miller presented the teams and coach with a proclamation designating Wednesday May 4, SC State Tennis Champions Day. A special recognition was sent on behalf of Senator Lindsey Graham who was unable to attend the event, but congratulating SC State on its wonderful athletic achievements in tennis this year.

         Remarks were also made by SC State president Dr. George E. Cooper, Bulldog athletics director Charlene M. Johnson, Mr. Frank Tourville, Sr. Owner, Zeus Industrial Products, Inc, Dr. Ethel Jones Faculty Athletics Representative, Introduction of the head coach by Katarina Judge (daughter of the coach), Coach Hardeep Judge, Mr. Artie Davis pastor of Cornerstone Community Church, and David Grund of the men's tennis squad.

The tennis programs have been the most productive at SC State the last eight seasons, with the Lady Bulldogs posting a 24-0 record having not lost a conference match in seven years, while earning national ranking along the way. The men have earned postseason berths in the NCAA Championships and earned their seventh league championships in eight seasons.

Tickets may be purchased in advance or on each day of the tournament. An ALL-SESSION Pass is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for senior citizens, college students, and children under 17. SINGLE DAY tickets for Friday and Saturday are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens, college students and children under 17. SINGLE DAY tickets for Sunday are $3.00 for everyone.
