ORANGEBURG, SC –  SC State athletics director Charlene Johnson will be among 12 Stellar Alumni honored Friday during the unveiling of the 2012 SCSU National Alumni Calendar at a 5 p.m. ceremony at the Dr. Barbara A. Vaughn Auditorium at the Fine Arts Center.

The annual calendar honors and recognizes SC State alumni who have excelled in their chosen field and made significant contributions to the university.

The university's athletic program has made tremendous strides and enjoyed great success under the tutelage of Johnson, who is in her eighth year as athletics director, including one year as interim.

Johnson, who is a member of the SC State Athletics Hall of Fame, earned both a bachelor's (1980) and master's (1987) from the university.

Bulldog Weight Room to be Dedicated in Dawson's Memory

The weight room at SC State's Oliver C. Dawson Stadium will be dedicated to the memory of the late Bulldog coach and administrator whom the facility is named for on Friday during a 12 noon ceremony.

The weight room will officially become the Bull's Boys Weight Room during the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the facility, which was sponsored by former football players who played for Dawson during his long coaching career at SC State. Dawson retired in 1976 after almost 40 years as a coach, professor and administrator. He died in 1986.

A golf tournament named in Dawson's honor will be played at Hillcrest Golf Facility Friday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. The format is a two-man captain's choice with the entry fee set at $70 per player.

SC State Homecoming Tickets to be Available until 9 p.m. Friday

Tickets for SC State's Saturday Homecoming contest against North Carolina Central can be purchased until 9 p.m. Friday at the Ticket Booth at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Tickets can be obtained from the Bulldog Ticket Office from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

All tickets are $35 each.
