ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State soccer team, fresh off of a 7-1 triumph over Virginia Southern Friday, will be trying for its second straight victory Monday when Coach Glad Bugariu's team hosts Campbell in a 7 p.m. match at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Admission is free.
The Lady Bulldogs, 2-1-1 after Friday's triumph, will be trying to remain undefeated at home. In two earlier home matches, SC State upset Navy 2-1 (Aug. 19) and played Liberty to a 1-1 tie (Aug. 22).
Two newcomers are among the statistical leaders for SC State. Freshman Briana Lopez of Santa Barbara, CA has three goals and two assists for a total of eight points; junior Olivia Moore, a transfer from VMI, also has three goals for a total of six points; and Ontario, Canada sophomore Stephanie Searle has one goal and three assists for a total of five points.
Bugariu's team is looking to improve on last year's 10-7-3 campaign, the first winning season for the SC State soccer program.
