Ormond Beach, FL—The SC State women's softball team fell to North Carolina A&T, 8-0, in the second round of the MEAC Softball championships.  The championships, which are being contested at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex in Ormond Beach, FL, runs through Saturday, May 15 with a rain date scheduled for Sunday, May 16.

SC State (9-42) matched NC A&T (27-25) intensity through the first four innings allowing just one run headed into the top of the fifth.  The Lady Aggies bats came to life in the bottom of the fifth as they put up seven runs in its half of the inning en route to the 8-0 victory.

Jennifer Luper (16-13) earned the shutout win while Raven Johnson (9-31) was the losing pitcher in the contest.

SC State will face Howard at 10 a.m. Friday in the elimination game.  The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Bison, 5-0, in its opening game of the tournament on Thursday.

Admission for the 2010 MEAC Softball Championship is $5 for youth, students and seniors.  Discounted ticket packages for all three days can be purchased for $12.
