BUIES CREEK, SC – South Carolina State carded a 36-hole total of (333-346) 679 to finish seventh at the 10-team Fighting Camels Classic at the Keith Hills Country Club.
Host Campbell University captured the title with a team total of (292-296) 588. Appalachian State was second at (311-304) 615, followed by Presbyterian at (326-324) 650, Pfeiffer at (336-321) 657, Towson (326-336) and Dayton (341-321), both at 662, and the SC State women at (333-346) 679.
Leading the way for Coach Sandy Burris' team was Cabriel Duren with a 36-hole total of (80-85) 165, followed by Honesty Biggers, one stroke back at (83-83) 166, Geneva Mackey at (85-87) 172 and Addi McLaren at (85-91) 176.
Burris, in her second year as coach of the SC State women, said she was proud of the showing of her team in a very competitive tournament and amid tough weather conditions.
“I'm very proud of the effort we gave,” Burris said. “This was a very tough and competitive field and the weather conditions were very challenging. Our young women continue to get better each outing.”
