ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State soccer team, in its second spring exhibition Saturday, faced teams from the powerful Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences at Columbia. The Lady Bulldogs were very competitive in both matches, losing 2-0 to the ACC's North Carolina State and 3-0 to South Carolina of the SEC, which finished its fall schedule ranked eighth nationally.
“We were able to put together some excellent moments against these top teams,” said Bulldog head coach Glad Bugariu. “But, at the same time, there are a number of things that we need to continue working on.
“Ultimately, this is what the spring is about,” he continued. “It is basically part of the preseason, preparing for the fall. We can learn many things about our team and players during this time.”
Every player on the SC State roster played one half in each game as Bugariu experimented with various players in multiple positions.
The Lady Bulldogs will resume their schedule Mar. 27 when they take on Furman and UNC-Charlotte in a similar two-game, one-day format.
