Orangeburg, SC--The SC State men's and women's track teams will resume its 2009-10 indoor track competition, this Friday-Saturday, Jan. 8-9, at the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, SC.
Both the teams returned to practice on January 4th after having a two week break for the holidays.
Despite the break, head coach Tyree Price is pleased with the way many of his athletes returned to practice. “I think several of my athletes came back from the break ready to perform,” said Coach Price.
Prior to the holiday break, both teams had strong showings at the Appalachian State Invite (December 5, 2009). The women captured one event, had five runner-up finishes, placed third in one, fourth in three, fifth and sixth in two each and seventh in one. The men recorded one first place, were fourth in three other events and seventh in another.
Joining SC State at the Clemson meet will be Bethune-Cookman, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Jackson State, Johnson C. Smith, UAB, Wofford, and host Clemson.
Both teams will return to action next weekend, Friday-Saturday, Jan. 15-16, when they travel back to Boone, NC to participate in a second meet hosted by Appalachian State.
