VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- South Carolina State sophomore Brittney Stewart and Morgan State University freshman Justus David were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

            Stewart, a sophomore of Bonaire, Georgia, paced the Lady Bulldogs with a time of 19:27.72 at the University of South Carolina Invite. Stewart finished 16th among 68 runners in the 5K race, while the team earned a seventh place finish. 

David (Fr., Kitui, Kenya) won the Baltimore Metro 5K run with a time 16:05.04. His time helped the Bears to a second place finish out of four competing teams.

Tempest Vance and Garrett Blakely have qualified for the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Eastern Regional Championships. Vance, a red-shirt sophomore from Anderson, SC, qualified for the eastern regional in the 400 meter hurdles. In the preliminary round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track Championships, Vance ran a season best 100.36 in the 400 meter hurdles. She ran a personal best 100.12 in the finals, which was good enough for a second place finish.
