VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- South Carolina State sophomore Brittney Stewart and Morgan State University freshman Justus David were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

            Stewart, a sophomore of Bonaire, Georgia, paced the Lady Bulldogs with a time of 19:27.72 at the University of South Carolina Invite. Stewart finished 16th among 68 runners in the 5K race, while the team earned a seventh place finish. 

David (Fr., Kitui, Kenya) won the Baltimore Metro 5K run with a time 16:05.04. His time helped the Bears to a second place finish out of four competing teams.

SC State Track Signs Impressive 2009-10 Class

ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State head coach Tyree E. Price, Monday, announced his 2009-10 men’s and women’s cross country/track & field recruiting class, a group he considers to be the best of his collegiate coaching career.

     “I think this class is by far one of the best I’ve ever had in my collegiate coaching career,” said Price.

SC State Women's Track Signs Two

ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State women’s track team has signed two prospects to national letters, the school announced on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009.

            Inking pacts with the Lady Bulldogs were sprinter Erin Oliver (Stone Mountain, GA/Redan HS) and jumper/hurdler Tamala Daley (Stone Mountain, GA/Redan HS).

Vance, Blakely Qualify for 2008 NCAA Outdoor Eastern Regional Championships
Tempest Vance and Garrett Blakely have qualified for the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Eastern Regional Championships. Vance, a red-shirt sophomore from Anderson, SC, qualified for the eastern regional in the 400 meter hurdles. In the preliminary round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track Championships, Vance ran a season best 100.36 in the 400 meter hurdles. She ran a personal best 100.12 in the finals, which was good enough for a second place finish.

SC State Women 7th, Men 11th at MEAC Track Championships

BALTIMORE, MD --  The South Carolina State women finished seventh and the men eleventh at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships which concluded Saturday at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State.
