EUGENE, OR – South Carolina State freshman Monique Gracia finished 8th in the 100 meter hurdles at the 2009 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday with a time of 14.34. Villanova’s Shericka Ward won the event with a clocking of 13.47.

            Gracia, a Miami, Fla. native also represented SC State in the 100 meters but did not make the finals.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – South Carolina State freshman Tamala Daley amassed 4023 points to finish seventh in the women’s Heptathlon at the Coastal Carolina/Shamrock Invitational Friday at Doug Shaw Stadium, while the Bulldog’s Leighton Brown, a sophomore, was ninth in the Decathlon with 4691 points.

SC State Track Teams to Compete at Coastal Carolina

ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State will be among 35 teams participating in the three-day (Mar. 18-20) CSU Shamrock Invitational beginning Thursday and hosted by Coastal Carolina at Myrtle Beach’s Doug Shaw Stadium. The competition, which will feature a men’s and women’s division, gets underway daily at 9 a.m.

Harris Named Assistant Cross-Country/Track and Field Coach
Orangeburg, SC—Jebreh Harris has been named assistant cross-country/track and field coach at South Carolina State. Harris began his duties on February 1.
            Harris joins the SC State staff after serving the past season five seasons (2004-2009) as a volunteer-assistant coach at his alma mater University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UT). While at UT, Harris also served several years as a track coach with the Knoxville Track Club working with the youth program. He also has spent time as a sports specific/personal trainer (Performance Training Inc.) Where he has trained several world class athletes and designed workout for clients with particular needs.
