EUGENE, OR – South Carolina State freshman Monique Gracia finished 8th in the 100 meter hurdles at the 2009 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday with a time of 14.34. Villanova’s Shericka Ward won the event with a clocking of 13.47.

            Gracia, a Miami, Fla. native also represented SC State in the 100 meters but did not make the finals.

Seven SC State Track & Field Athletes to Participate in NCAA East Regional
Orangeburg, SC—Seven SC State University track and field performers will participate in the 2009 NCAA East Regional at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University this Friday and Saturday, May 29-30.
            Representing SC State on the men side will be freshmen Donta Young, (Fayetteville, NC-Seventy First HS), who will be competing in the 110-meter hurdles and Noel Facey, (Kingston Jamaica, Calabar HS), who is entered in the men’s discus.

SC State Cross-Country/Track & Field Assistant Coach to Teach at USATF Level I School
Orangeburg, SC—SC State Track & Field Assistant Coach Donald Cooper will be amongst the instructors at the USA Track & Field Association Level I School. The classes, which are scheduled for May 22-24, will be held on the campus of Augusta State University in Augusta, GA.
 
Cooper, who is in his second season as an assistant with SC State has 8+ years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

SC State Women 7th, Men 10th at MEAC Track

GREENSBORO, NC – The South Carolina State women amassed 57 points to finish seventh, while the men scored 34 points for a tenth-place showing the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at the Irwin Belk Track on the North Carolina A&T campus.
