ORANGEBURG, SC – One South Carolina State sports team is among nearly 800 Division I teams being recognized for top academic performance as part of the NCAA's academic reform program, the association announced today.

            Based on its most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate -- which provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete -- the SC State outdoor women's track and field team has earned the NCAA Public Recognition Award, given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in their sport with their APRs.

            High-performing teams receiving public recognition awards this year posted APR scores ranging from 976 to a perfect 1000. The SC State program scored a perfect 1000, well above the 925 threshold for APR scores.

            A total of 205 institutions, out of 331 Division I colleges and universities, placed at least one team in the top APR list.

            Multi-year APR scores for all Division I sports teams, including the teams receiving public recognition awards, will be announced May 6, according to the NCAA.
