Landover, MD—The SC State women's track team is in eighth place and the men's team sits in tenth after two day (six events) of the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track Championships in Landover, MD. The championships, which are being held at the Prince Georges County Sports and Learning Complex, concludes tomorrow.
On the women side freshman Shamire Rothmiller picked up eight points for the Lady Bulldogs as she finished second in the shot put with a throw of 14.48 meters (47-06.25). The women's Distance Medley Team consisting of Lauren Lawson, Elizabeth Govrik, Patrecia Daniley and Brittney Stewart picked up one point with an eight place finish in a time of 13:22.74. Also on the women's side, senior Renee McWilliams qualified for the women's 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71.
On the men side junior Levar Knight picked up five points finishing fourth in the long jump with a height of 7.47 meters (24-06.25).
The final day of competition starts tomorrow at 9 a.m., with the women's pole vault and women's pentathlon events. Early afternoon field events include the men's heptathlon, shot put, high jump and triple jump.
