Orangeburg, SC- The South Carolina State Men's and Women's Track Teams will travel to Landover, MD to participate in the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships. The three-day meet, which will be held at the Prince George County Sports and Learning Complex, will take place Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 12-14. The championships will feature all 11 institutions from the MEAC Conference.
Both SC State teams will look to improve on their 10 place finishes from a year ago. “I think we've gotten better from the start of the season until now,” said second year head coach Tyree Price. “I expect if everyone stays focused mentally that we as a team will be able to do what we are capable of doing.”
Among the top individual qualifiers for the Bulldogs heading into this weekend's championships are Marcus Stephens, who has provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump, Kenneth Rackins and Levar Knight on the men side and Tempest Vance, Shamire Rothmiller, Monique Gracia, on the women's side. Both men's and women's 4x400 meter relay teams have qualified as well as the women's distance medley relay team.
