SC State Women's Basketball Opens 2009-10 Season versus Savannah State

ORANGEBURG, SC – The SC State women’s basketball team tips off its 2009-10 regular season tomorrow (Sunday, Nov. 15) when they host Savannah State in a 4:00 p.m. contest at Smith-Hammond-Middleton (S-H-M) Memorial Center. Tomorrow’s contest will mark the second straight year that Coach Doug Robertson team opens its season at home. 
 
The Lady Bulldogs will have somewhat of a new look, as they have 11 new faces and two new coaches on its bench to start the 09-10 campaign. One familiar face to the fans will be senior Sophilia Hipps (5-8, Guard, Spencer, NC) who is the team’s top returnee. She finished the 2008-09 campaign averaging 14.3 points per game and shooting 80% from the charity stripe. Also returning to this year’s squad is junior Shontae Wylie (5-9, Guard/Forward, Rock Hill, SC) along with sophomores LaTeia Brailey (5-4, Guard, Orangeburg, SC) and Brijan Turner (5-6, Guard, Cypress, TX).
 
SC State, who will be looking to improve on its 6-23 record from last season, has a favorable early season schedule as they will play five of their first six games at home. In addition to Savannah State tomorrow, the Lady Bulldogs will face UNC-Asheville (Nov. 17), Furman (Nov. 21), USC-Upstate (Nov. 24) and North Carolina Central (Dec. 1) at home. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Charleston, SC to take on Charleston Southern on November 28.
 
Admission to tomorrow’s game and all games in the month of November is free.

Orangeburg, SC— SC State women’s basketball head coach Doug Robertson will host a women’s basketball clinic, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010. The clinic, which is open to women ages 21 and up, will be held at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of SC State University. Check-in for the clinic will begin at 7 a.m. with the activities beginning at 9 a.m.
The clinic will include a question and answer session with Bulldog coach’s wives, a meet and greet along with a photo with Coach Robertson, shopping with SC State Bulldog vendors and lunch provided by Subway. The registration fee for the clinic is $30 per adult.

June 19, 2010-9 am-4 pm: Parent/Daughter Clinic-$50.00 ($10 each additional child)
June28-July1, 2010-9 am-4 pm each day: Individual Day Camp: $150 per person
