BALTIMORE,MD--The South Carolina State University Bulldogs will be looking to seek its first outright title under Buddy Pough since 1994 and first Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearance since 1992 today when they battle Morgan State in a pivotal MEAC showdown.
SC State who shared the 2004 title with Hampton, but a victory today by the Bulldogs against Morgan State or North Carolina A&T (Nov.22) will give them their first outright title.
“Well it’s good to be in the positron we are in being undefeated in the conference,” stated SCSU coach Buddy Pough. “We don’t want to keep putting this off and would like to win the title against Morgan instead of North Carolina A&T.
The Bulldogs enter the contest as the top-ranked team with a record of 8-2 overall, and 6-0 in the MEAC, while the Bears are 6-4 overall, and 4-2 in the league.
SC State having won six-straight league contest must remain focus against a tough Morgan State team who comes in with one of the best defenses in the conference.
The Bulldogs have beaten Morgan five consecutive times, including a thrilling 28-21 overtime victory in Orangeburg last year. Morgan State won 23-12 in 2002 in Baltimore, MD for its last win over SC State.
